Downhill, Cross-Country and Heli-Skiing

Downhill SkiingOne of Canada's largest and most magnificent ski areas is just 5 minutes from the Hotel. Set against the backdrop of the spectacular snow-capped Rocky Mountains, the Lake Louise Ski area offers 4000 acres of unsurpassed ski terrain. With 4 different mountain faces to choose from, a variety of open bowls and tree-lined runs and a perfect mix of terrain (25% novice, 45% intermediate, 30% expert) skiers of all ability levels will find Louise unforgettable.

    Convenient and free of charge, the Lake Louise ski hill shuttle bus operates seven days a week during ski season, running guests from the hotel's front doors to the base of the ski lifts.

Cross-Country Skiing

Although the world class downhill skiing attracts most winter visitors to Lake Louise, the area also offers an abundance of cross-country skiing. With winter's snowfall, the picturesque hiking trails of Lake Louise, which draw thousand of tourists to the area each summer, are transformed into some of the most spectacular cross-country trails in the Canadian Rockies. Of course, there is never a shortage of snow!

Helicopter Skiing

An ultimate ski experience! As helicopter skiing is not permitted in Banff National Park, there are several options available and the closest is an hour and fifteen minutes away.

Snowmobile Tours / Ice Fishing

Dog Sled Rides

Professional dogsledders operate within a few minutes drive of the Post, and offer a variety of trips. Short trips are about 35 minutes, and are designed to give you a taste of dog sledding; a half-day trip takes about 4 hours and, in some cases, participants have the option of "mushing" their own dog team.
